Who we are

The Gillian Stevenson Charitable Trust CIO, or Gilly's as we are known to our friends, was set up in 2021 and given its name as a tribute to our lovely mum.

She spent many years as a primary school teacher and, because of her kind and caring nature, always had a real affinity with children, whether that be those in her class, our childhood friends or just those she came across while out and about! Although we sadly lost our mum to kidney cancer in 1995, her approach to life of treating all people with kindness and compassion is something that we, her family, have learned by example and try to continue to do today.

One way we have chosen to do this is by providing support to charities that show this same kindness and compassion and help them carry on making a difference to the people that they work with.

Trustees

Joy Chapman

I am Gillian’s daughter and responsible for the day-to-day running of the CIO. Having worked within the health, education and prison sectors, I have seen and experienced the positive impact that charities can have and just how important their input can be. As a trustee, I am proud to be able to play a small part in supporting charities to continue this work that plays such a vital role in the lives of so many people and their communities.

Alex Stevenson

Judith Stevenson

I am a trustee and one of the founders of the CIO. I provide support to Joy, who is also my sister in-law, helping to guide and oversee the development of strategy. Following a career in insurance I have focussed my time on bringing up my family. When the opportunity arose to establish the CIO, I saw this as a natural step to try and provide a different kind of support to charities who are on the frontline of helping to improve lives and communities.

Simon Glazebrook

I am a solicitor, and professional advisor to the Stevenson family.  I have worked within the legal sector for the last 20 years and been involved, to different degrees, in a number of different charitable structures, as well as in respect of private philanthropic activities and fundraising initiatives.  I am experienced in acting as a professional trustee on a number of different trusts, and value the legal and non-legal contributions that I can make to the Gillian Stevenson Charitable Trust CIO, and, in the turn, the valuable role that it can play in positively impacting in a variety of different contexts.
