Investing in the future
As we get to know the charities we support through our small grants programme, we are always on the look out to identify opportunities where Gilly's can provide added value by sharing our skills, knowledge and making use of our own networks.
Where we recognise that a charity is at a pivotal point in their development, we may also offer to champion them as our focus charity and secure additional funding on their behalf that would enable them to take the next step on their journey.
Meet our current focus charity:
Windmills is an exceptional charity founded in early 2020 by two experienced and expert acute bereavement nurses, Leeanne and Zara, who saw first-hand how death can wreck and derail young lives. There were no specialist acute bereavement services available locally (Staffordshire) so the founding nurses undertook to create one. They called it Windmills because it turns the impact of death for the vulnerable child from one of destructive negativity to one of managed positivity.
A young and successful charity, Windmills provides a much needed and highly valued service to all pre- and immediately post-bereaved children and young people within Staffordshire. They have built long lasting and trusting relationships with local services such as schools, colleges, hospitals and hospices.
Over the course of the last 12 months as our relationship with Leeanne and Zara has grown, Gilly's trustees have developed a deeper understanding of the incredible potential Windmills has, what needs to be in place to enable this to happen and how we could support them to do this. By designating Windmills as our focus charity, we are able to provide a greater level of both financial and non-financial support to help them take the next steps in their development independently and with confidence.
If you are interested in making a donation that will be used to help Leeanne and Zara take Windmills on the next step of their journey, please email us at info@gillianstevensontrustuk.org to find out more about how we support our focus charity.
